Sweater: similar here and here, Shirt: SUO Boutiques, (similar), Leggings, Booties, and Purse: Nordstrom

Can you guys believe January is almost over? Time is just flying by, but I wanted to share a few cold-weather outfits before winter ends in LA. As you know, winter here is not like winter in NYC. The days are sunny but the air can get pretty cold, making it hard to figure out to wear. I kinda put this outfit together on a whim on one of those very confusing mornings. I put on this oversized plaid shirt but I was still a little cold, so I just randomly put this sweater over, and I love how great the two patterns came together.

I know mixing print/patterns can be a little intimidating, but it’s seriously one of my favorite things to do. Here are three things to keep in mind. 1. Size: Mix pieces with different sizes, for example a shirt with small stripes will look better with a skirt that has an oversized floral print. 2. Color: Make sure both pieces complement each other. Neutrals work really well together and black and white work with pops of color. 3. Start with Stripes: I think stripes are a great starter piece. They go with pretty much anything – polka dots, florals, plaid, animal print.

Here’s a great diagram I found on Pinterest

Winter Uniform: Fair Isle Cardigan + Jeans

Winter has been in full swing in LA, and even though we’ve experienced some freezing temps (freezing for us at least), this outfit is pretty much what I’ve been wearing constantly. I spotted this longline cardigan at Nordstrom, on the sale rack, and as soon as I tried it on, I just knew it was the perfect wintery sweater. The rest of the outfit is pretty simple, just some comfy jeans, a basic black long sleeve, and my favorite booties that I got at Nordstrom Rack. I love wearing beanies and this one has definitely been my favorite this season and it just flows with the rest of my outfit. Oh, and as you can tell, I’ve done a pretty good job at collecting delicate gold chain necklaces. These are really special to me and I love layering them together. My favorite accessory and probably my favorite thing in the entire world, has to be my baby Rocky. Isn’t he just the sweetest?

Here we are, me begging for attention, and Rocky finding a way to escape my loving embrace. He does love me. I swear. Haha

Happy 2015: Polka Dot Skirt + Statement Necklace

Blouse: old, Skirt: Forever 21, Statement Necklace: Diivinity, Boutique, Shoes: Aldo

Um, can you already believe it’s 2015?! Why is time just flying by? As I’m getting older, I’m realizing how important each and every single day is. Although it’s nice to have days off, life is to short to oversleep, be lazy, and overall just not use our precious time here on earth to follow our dreams and passions.

Last year, I was in a completely different state of mind. I was just focused on graduating school and finding a job after. Well, now that I have a job (one that is taking me in the right direction towards my career path), I just want this year to be centered around self-improvement. I want to feel at my very best, emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally. I know that in order to feel good and be happy I need to make some changes.

For starters, I’m really making an effort to make my room my sanctuary. I know this might seem like a lame goal, but after a long day at work, I want to relax and enjoy a space that reflects my personality. I will be giving a room tour (and a loooong overdue bathroom tour) in the next couple of months.

As always, I really need to work on my health. Since starting my 8-5 job and working my blog a lot more, exercising has not been a priority. I think I have finally figured out a fitness plan that works with my schedule and I’m excited to get back into a routine.

God has blessed with me with such an incredible life, and lately I’ve been feeling really guilty for not giving back. I’m doing some research on ways I can volunteer. The hard part is finding the right organization.

Lastly, just because I’m not in school anymore doesn’t mean I have to stop learning. Something I don’t mention often is my passion for business. College taught me a lot about business, but I want to learn more! I want to work my brain and read, listen, and do anything I can do better my knowledge and understanding of the business world.

These are just a few of the things I want to really focus on this year and as always, I am really excited for all of you to join along. My style is always evolving and I love that I have the opportunity to share that with you.

Oh and about my outfit, I mean does it really get more “me” than this super cute polka dot skirt? I saw it at work and I knew I just had to have it! And this statement necklace… it’s just absolutely mesmerizing!!

Polka Dot Dress + Faux Leather Vest

Dress: Windsor Vest: Target, Purse: Daily Look

I wore this dress back in November when it was Fall, and now that we are headed straight into winter I wanted to wear it again but styled a little differently. I wore this outfit to The Grove in LA for a Christmas date with my boyfriend. I really wanted to be festive since the The Grove is decorated so beautifully for the holidays! I decided to throw on this faux fur vest, which has pockets and the back is faux furless so it’s not as bulky. I wore some tights but I wanted just a little bit of extra warmth around my ankles so I wore high-knee black socks and scrunched them down. I wore my favorite bib necklace to add some sparkle and bring in some gold-tones to the look. And I needed a pop of color so I went with my purse from daily look (which I scored for a great price during Cyber Monday and it’s on sale right now in case you are interested). It’s the perfect shade of pink and its the perfect size and shape. I am so obsessed! I think this look is great for any festive event you have coming your way, even Christmas Eve or day!

Rose-Patterned Sweater Dress + Royal Blue Mini Satchel

DSC_2832DSC_2843 DSC_2842 DSC_2834DSC_2848 DSC_2849 DSC_2862DSC_2879 DSC_2878 DSC_2858Dress and Bow Ring: Diivinity, Purse: Forever 21, Nail Polish: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

You know how people wonder if love at first sight exist? Well, I’m here to tell you that it does! When I first spotted this dress on instagram I knew I had to have it! The colors are so vibrant and its rose pattern is feminine and timeless. When I received it in the mail I was happy to see its amazing quality! It’s a really thick knit construction, which is perfect for the chillier weather ahead. I paired it with this super bright royal blue satchel. I love its gold-tone hardware, so I went ahead and wore some gold rings and a gold necklace to tie the whole look together. This is one dress that is hard to dress down because it is just so gorgeous, but with booties and loose locks, this is an outfit suitable for casual occasions.

Diivinity is an amazing online boutique owned by a very special friend! Please show her some love!
